Updating your Wordpress Plugins: Never ever just overwrite the Plugin Files!
August 13th, 2007Hello World, again one of the daily issues I have with my Blog:
Last week I updated several Wordpress Plugins only by overwriting their PHP Files -> My whole Page Title System was screwed because the SEO Title Tag Plugin now featured MySql Databases - Shit happens I didn’t even read the Changelog.
So I tried to manually fix the DB_ERRORs it was throwing and after several days of anger [
] I found the seo_title_tag_install() function, executed It and now everything works.
What I wanted to tell is, please never ever just overwrite your Wordpress Plugin files! Deactivate the Old one, Delete the Files, Upload the newer Version and then Reactivate! It is a matter of about 2 minutes, but it saves you from a lot of trouble
This fault won’t happen to me again :o)
